The system carries following function.
- Monitoring of lights.
- Monitoring of Battery voltage.
- Synchronising of Buoys and Shore lights.
- Monitoring of Buoy position.
- Monitoring of Buoy collision with passing vessels.
- Monitoring of GPS signals
Monitoring of Lights.
During night conditions the navigation Light is constantly monitored by measurement of the LED Current. If the LED Current remains consistently below a set level, a Light fail message will be sent to all the designated mobile telephones. When REPORT command message is received during day time the Navigation Light will be energised for a short period and the LED Current measured to confirm correct operation. If the current is detected, a light fail signal will be transmitted to the telephones.
Monitor of Battery Voltage.
The system regularly measures the voltage and a Low Battery text message will be sent to the designated mobile telephones if the average voltage falls to below 11 volts. When the battery voltage rises to 12.5V, the alarm condition will be cleared. If the average battery voltage falls to 10.5V, the power of the Navigation Light will be reduced to assist the solar charge system to recover the battery voltage.
Synchronising of Buoys and Shore Lights.
The navigation Light characters are synchronised by timing signals extracted from the output of the GPS receiver. If the GPS receiver fails, the light will continue to operate but will not be synchronised. Also GPS fail signal will be sent to the designated mobile telephones.
Monitoring of Buoy Position
The position of the buoy is constantly monitored by a 12 channel GPS receiver.
If the buoy moves beyond an allowed limit an OFF STATION text message will be sent to the designated mobiles telephones. The message will also keep giving the new Latitude and Longitude position of the drifted buoy.
The Position Monitor system can be disabled and enabled.
Monitoring of Buoy Collision.
The buoys are fitted with a shock sensor. When a buoy is hit by the ship a Buoy collision text message will be sent to the designated mobile telephones. The Collision monitor can be disabled by sending a COL=OFF text message and the same will be confirmed.
Monitoring of GPS.
The output of the GPS receiver is constantly monitored. If the receiver fails a GPS FAILED text message will be sent to the designated mobile telephones and the daily Auto Report messages will not be sent. It is possible to reset the GPS receiver by sending a GPS=Reset command text message.
The buoy will respond with a GPS Reset text message.
Solar Charge control.
The control system includes temperature compensated solar charging control to maintain the battery in optimum condition.
Status Report.
The status of the buoys and shore lights can be verified by sending a REPORT text message. However the Buoys and shore station will automatically send status report every day. The Auto report is sent to all the designated mobile telephones with a delay of every 2 minutes between each buoy and shore stations. The following information will be transmitted automatically:
Shore Station:
- Station number
- Light O.K/ Fail
- Battery voltage.
Buoy Stations:
- Station number
- Light O.K/ Fail
- Battery voltage.
- Buoys position giving Latitude & Longitude
- Buoys O.K/ Collided
Alarm Messages:
- Light failed
- Battery low voltage
- Buoy off- station.
- Buoy collision.
- GPS Fail.
Protection
The complete system is fitted inside a purpose designed rugged, sealed, cast marine grade aluminium enclosure. The GPS and Cellphone aerials need a clear view of the sky to ensure good signal reception. T
